Stewardship Begins at School

School campuses offer valuable opportunities for students to participate in environmental stewardship close to home. Through partnerships with the Lake Oswego School District schools, student organizations, and educators, OLWC supports restoration projects that improve habitat, strengthen ecological function, and create outdoor learning opportunities on school grounds.

Student-Led Stewardship

We regularly partner with student groups including Green Teams, National Honor Society chapters, Interact Clubs, and other service organizations/clubs to implement projects that improve campus natural areas. Activities may include invasive species removal, native planting, habitat enhancement, and ongoing site maintenance.

Learning Through Action

Campus restoration projects provide students with opportunities to apply concepts learned in the classroom while developing leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. These projects demonstrate how local actions can contribute to healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities.

Building a Culture of Environmental Leadership

By supporting student-led stewardship efforts, OLWC and LOSD are helping create a culture where environmental responsibility is part of everyday school life. These projects not only improve campus landscapes but also empower students to become active participants in caring for their watershed and community.
